The Mediterranean Diet Foundation (FDM) organizes the VII Barcelona International Congress on the Mediterranean Diet, which will be celebrated on March 11th and 12th 2008, within the frame of the International Food and Beverage Exhibition, Alimentaria ’08.
Dr. Antonia Trichopoulou, Director of the World Health Organization’s Collaborating Centre of the Department of Hygiene and Epidemiology, School of Medicine, University of Athens, will chair the Congress. She is an Honorary President of the FDM’s Scientific Committee, and was awarded the IV Grande Covián Award in 2002.
The Congress program will deal with current topics and will include a session dedicated to the Candidature of the Mediterranean Diet for its inscription on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of the UNESCO.
As it is now a tradition, the FDM will award the Grande Covián Award and the Diplomas of Honour.
Grande Covián Award: aims to distinguish a personality of the scientific world for its contribution to a better understanding of the influence of the diet on health.
Diplomas of Honour: recognize the career of personalities from other fields who have contributed to the dissemination of the Mediterranean culture.
